DropTextPrinter is an easy-to-use drag & drop text file printing utility. It can be used like the Desktop Printer for System 7.5. However, unlike the Desktop Printer, you can set various optional settings to get a beautiful printout. DropTextPrinter has the following features:
･ You can set various optional settings in advance for printing such as border type, border width, margin, adding line number, two up mode, text font, font size, font style, wrap mode, header string, footer string, etc.
･ DropTextPrinter can detect and use the different font for HTML TAGs and C/C++/JAVA language source code comments.
･ DropTextPrinter can handle text files for Macintosh, MD-DOS and UNIX platform. It automatically detects the file type and handle CR/LF codes correctly. Of course, DropTextPrinter can handle text file larger than 32K.
･ Two-Up printing mode works differently from the two-up mode with the recent version of LaserWriter drivers. DropTextPrinterﾕs two-up mode places some space area between left page and right page so that you can easily fold and staple the letter size print-out to make a half size booklet. Of course, you can also use two-up mode by the LaserWriter driver if your printer and driver support it.
･ DropTextPrinter supports the Even/Odd pages only print mode for those who want to create double side print-out with a printer which does not support double side printing.
･ DropTextPrinter can handle Japanese Kanji text file. Version 1.1 supports Shift-JIS , EUC, JIS kanji code. (Does not support Hankaku Katakana) Since Macintosh uses Shift-JIS code for the Kanji text, DropTextPrinter automatically converts JIS and EUC codes in the dropped file to Shift-JIS codes before printing. No more kanji convert before printing!
･ You can drag&drop not only text files but also folders which contain text files you want to print. If a folder is droped, DropTextPrinter print all the text files in the folder. If there are some non-text files in the folder (i.e. binary data, program files), DropTextPrinter displays the warning message and just skip the file.
･ DropTextPrinter stores all the optional setting into its own resource fork. So, you can make multiple copies of this program and place on the desktop with different names like ﾔNormal Text Printerﾕ and ﾔSource Code Printerﾕ and select the different optional settings based on their purpose and use them case by case.
How to Install
Thereﾕs no special installation required for DropTextPrinter. All you need to do is to place the DropTextPrinter anywhere in your hard disk. No other files are required.
How to Use DropTextPrinter
There are two phases to use the DropTextPrinter. The first phase is Configuring the DropTextPrinter and the second phase is Printing text files.
1. Configuring DropTextPrinter (set up printing options)
To set up the printing options, start DropTextPrinter by double cliking the program icon at the finder.
After displaying the title, the main window appears. Use this main window to set up all the optional settings. You can also access to the standard Page Setup dialog from this window. Once you set up optional settings, click on the OK button to save and exit the settings. If you want to exit without saving the current settings, click on the Cancel button.
2. Printing text files
Printing text files is very easy. All you need to do is to drag and drop text files or a folder that contains text files you want to print onto the DropTextPrinter icon. The standard Print dialog appears and lets you select the number of copies, page ranges and paper source, etc. Click OK to start printing. This Print dialog appears only once even if you drag and drop more than one file.
3. Hint to use some special features
< Double Side Print >
If you want to create double side print-out with normal printer, use the Odd Pages Only print mode to print on the blank papers. Then, insert the printed papers into the manual feed tray up side down and do the Even Pages Only printing.

How to Register Your Copy
DropTextPrinter is distributed as shareware.
You are welcome to try DropTextPrinter free for a period of 30 days. If you like it and decide to keep it after the trial period, you are expected to pay the shareware fee and register your copy of DropTextPrinter.
DropTextPrinter has the following pricing:
･ Single user licenses - $10 per user
･ Single site license - $200 per site
A site license covers all locations for your organization within a 160 km radius of your site (100 miles). One big advantage of a Site License is that you do not need to keep track of how many people at your site are using this software.
Paying for DropTextPrinter is fairly simple. Open the Register program that accompanies DropTextPrinter. Enter your name, address, E-mail address, and the number of single user licenses you wish to purchase (or Site licenses). Save or Copy or Print the data from the Register and send the data and payment to Kagi shareware. More specific on the Register program to follow. Kagi shareware handles my payment processing.
If paying with Credit Card or First Virtual, you can E-mail or FAX the data to Kagi shareware.

You can either Copy the data from Register and paste into the body of an E-mail message. There is no need to compress the data file. It's already pretty small. If you have a FAX modem, just Print the data to the Kagi shareware FAX number.
Payments sent via E-mail are processed within 3 to 4 days. You will receive an E-mail acknowledgment when it is processed. Payments sent via FAX take up to 10 days and if you provide a correct internet E-mail address you will receive an E-mail acknowledgment.

You can pay with a wide variety of cash from different countries but at present if you pay via check, it must be a check drawn in US Dollars. Kagi shareware cannot accept checks in other currencies, the conversion rate for non-USD checks is around USD 15 per check and that is just not practical.
If you have a purchasing department, you can enter all the data into the Register program and then select Invoice as your payment method. Print three copies of the form and send it to your accounts payable people. You might want to highlight the line that mentions that they must include a copy of the form with their payment.
Kagi shareware cannot invoice your company, you need to act on my behalf and generate the invoice and handle all the paperwork on your end.
Please do not FAX or E-mail payment forms that indicate Cash, Check, Invoice as the payment method. As far as I know, there is still no technology to transfer physical objects via FAX or E-mail and without the payment, the form cannot be processed.
Payments send via postal mail take time to reach Kagi shareware and then up to 10 days for processing. Again, if you include a correct E-mail address, you will hear from Kagi shareware when the form is processed.
If you do not have an E-mail address, you should consider selecting the Postcard Receipt so that Kagi shareware can inform you of your registration code. Kagi shareware transmits the registration code via E-mail and paid postcard receipt only.
Please do NOT send registrations directly to me, you will only delay your receipt of the registration code, as I will have to forward it to the Kagi service.
